Holding vs Flipping a Website, Which Is Better?

Holding Your Affiliate Websites

Pros

Your niche site profits are monthly.

Possibility of one day earning a somewhat passive income by outsourcing the content writing on your site.

If your site earns you a lot of money per month, you have time freedom which can allow you to build another business, go on vacation, etc.

You own and control your digital asset.

Cons

There are always changes to Google’s algorithm which can affect your rankings and monthly income.

Too many variables to pay attention to when ranking your own site. (Competitor ranking, link building, managing a team, Google's updates, etc.)

You don’t know exactly how much money you’re going to make each month.

You are competing with thousands of affiliate marketers worldwide for the top ranking keywords.

Flipping Your Affiliate Websites

Pros

Flipping websites offers you a larger payout upfront.

A larger payout upfront gives you more opportunities. (Ex. Easier to make investments, start another business)

Google core updates won’t affect you after you sell your niche sites.

You still earn a monthly income off your sites until you sell them for top dollar.

Cons

You might sell a site at the wrong time; a niche can rise in value at any time

It takes time to build up your site to where it’s valued much higher.

You may not sell a site for months or years.

Building the authority of several sites at one time can be highly expensive.

Is the Affiliate Lab Legit?

The Affiliate Lab is legit, but I'm not 100% sold on what he's using & teaching SEO for. It's great that you can get money up front for a site, but the odds of you building up a site's authority and then selling it are low and the risk is high.

This strategy is more of a long-term play for more experienced affiliate marketers. Even then, you can't expect to sell a site each week, month, or year. Also, the affiliate commission you earn isn't predictable. Affiliate Lab is good if you are patient enough and have enough capital to grow the value and authority of your sites.

Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO): Matt stresses the need for direct, benefit-focused content with effective conclusions and call-to-action buttons.

Challenges Matt Encountered

Choosing the Wrong Niche: Matt initially chose an unprofitable niche which has led to significant financial loss. Stay away from narrow and saturated niches.

Learning Curve: He realized that SEO and affiliate marketing has a steep learning curve and it needs commitment and hard work.

Competition and Market Changes: As an entrepreneur, you must be willing to constantly adapt to market changes, trends, and demands.

Leveraging Data for Decision Making: Matt utilizes detailed data analysis for ROI calculations. It helps him make informed decisions on content direction and affiliate product promotion.

What's not mentioned in the video: Matt claims he makes 6 figures on Google by building and optimizing affiliate websites. However, he did not mention that affiliate websites have very low conversion rates, only 0.5% to 1%. This means you need to get a large volume of free traffic to reach 6 figs monthly.

You can make 32X-40X the monthly profit your affiliate sites generate, according to Matt Diggity. It all comes down to how much work you put into making it as valuable as can be. When Matt realized the potential of flipping affiliate sites, he focused on it completely.

Conclusion: Local Lead Generation Offers a Predictable Passive Income

Local lead generation pays you an income you can predict each month because you dictate how much your clients have to pay you. After you build and rank your digital properties, all you have to do is send the leads to a local small business owner who can use more consistent work each month. You choose the niche you generate leads for, your ranking strategy, who you work with and how much you get paid.

With a high barrier to entry, you can have peace of mind because you're not worried about saturation either. There is no competing with thousands of affiliate marketers from around the world, only 10-15 local businesses, which is easier.

  1. Do we have to invest more money after paying 1000$? Like in any tools? If yes, then how much?
Btw, Thanks for the Review! 🙂

    1. Not exactly, but you’ll definitely need good tools in order to do the recommend SEO practices. It’s not “mandatory” but highly recommended to use a top keyword tool like SEMRush or AHRefs. I tink Moz may work also for both keyword research and backlink data.

For keyword density you can use Website Auditor but SEO Surfer is what’s also listed in the course. Several tools related to audit work are free.

Honestly, if you want top-level SEO results you’ll need to spend some money. However the basic ideas are what’s most important I think.
