As long as your site is ranked, it will keep attracting traffic without any manual input. Think with Google says that 28% of local searches result in sales. There is also less competition when ranking for local keywords. You often only have to outrank a handful of sites in the local search results.

I use local SEO in my number 1 business model, local lead generation. Instead of ranking client sites, I rank a niche site first and then rent it out to local businesses.
