Warner Fields FBA Roadmap Review - Arbitrage vs Wholesale + A Business Alternative

Updated On

Warner Fields’ FBA Roadmap is an Amazon FBA course that focuses on launching and growing an online arbitrage and wholesale business on Amazon. The course teaches Amazon sellers the repeatable steps to source, prepare, ship, and sell. It covers everything from sending your first shipment to advanced sourcing methods using tools like Tactical Arbitrage, Keepa, and SellerAmp.

FBA Roadmap focuses more on Amazon online arbitrage, as it’s a popular way to make money for beginners. Online arbitrage involves buying cheap products online (often under clearance) and selling them at a higher price to make a profit. Starting an online arbitrage business doesn’t require a lot of money. You can get started with as little as $500. However, keep in mind that there may be additional Amazon FBA fees, such as order fulfillment and storage fees.

As someone who used to run an Amazon FBA business, my opinion on FBA Roadmap’s business model is that it’s like standing in line at Y Combinator Demo Day. Everyone’s pitching, no one’s listening long, and only a tiny fraction walks away profitable. Amazon sellers pitch their products to the same buyers, platforms, and trends. They’re all chasing the same success stories. Amazon is too saturated, requires upfront investment, and only gets small profit margins. If you’re not ready for the constant work, you’ll find yourself burning out pretty quickly - I know I did.

In this FBA Roadmap review, I look at its pros and cons, what’s included inside, who it’s for, and if it’s worth it. I also compare Amazon FBA arbitrage and wholesale. I end by giving you the business model I switched to after running Amazon FBA. It’s called local lead generation.

What Are FBA Roadmap Pros and Cons?

Pros:

  • FBA Roadmap’s creator, Warner Fields, is a successful 7-figure Amazon seller.
  • FBA Roadmap has a strong online presence.
  • The course has a lot of bonuses, incorporated with weekly live consultations.
  • FBA Roadmap has a direct coaching program.

Cons:

  • FBA Roadmap is still new.
  • The course is self-paced.

Price: FBA Roadmap costs $447 for lifetime access.

Refund Policy: FBA Roadmap offers a 14-day money-back guarantee.

Origin: FBA Roadmap started in 2022.

Reputation: FBA Roadmap has a combined 269.2K followers on its social media and over 46K subscribers on YouTube.

July 24, 2024

I bought the FBA Roadmap course about a year ago when it was cheaper, and it turned out to be pretty helpful. They share a lot of stuff you don’t get in the YouTube videos, which is nice. The weekly calls are great for keeping you on track and letting you ask questions.

That said, there were a few downsides. Sometimes the course content felt a bit all over the place, which made it hard to follow. Also, while the calls were useful, they could get repetitive and didn’t always have new info.

Amazon Arbitrage vs. Amazon Wholesale: What Are the Differences?

ArbitrageWholesale
DefinitionAmazon arbitrage refers to the practice of buying products from retail or online stores at a lower price and then reselling them on the Amazon marketplace or other online platforms for a higher price to make a profit.Amazon wholesale is a business model that involves buying products in bulk directly from the manufacturers at low prices and selling them to customers for profit.
ProsLow start-up costs: You don't need a lot of money to start an Amazon arbitrage business. According to Jungle Scout, 12% out of 1,000+ Amazon sellers launch their business with less than $500, and 32% start with less than $1,000.Established brands: With Amazon wholesale, you can sell established brands that are already popular with customers. This can help increase the demand for your products and attract more customers to your business.
Easy to get started: According to a Jungle Scout survey, 33% reported launching their Amazon arbitrage business in less than one month. This means that starting an Amazon arbitrage business can be a relatively quick process.Easy to get started: Besides retail arbitrage, wholesale is the easiest business model to get up and running. Jungle Scout’s study reveals that 42% of wholesalers took only less than six weeks to launch and run their businesses.
Wide selection of products: Amazon offers a wide range of products. You can find profitable items in many categories.Reduced risk: Since you're selling established brands that already have a proven track record, there is less risk involved compared to selling new or untested products. This can help you build a more stable and profitable business.
ConsHigh competition: Amazon is a highly competitive marketplace, so many other sellers are also looking for profitable opportunities.High competition: You may be competing with many other sellers who are selling the same or similar products. This can make it challenging to stand out and attract customers to your business.
Price fluctuations: Prices on Amazon can change rapidly, so a product you bought at a cheap price may become unprofitable if the price increases or if other sellers sell at a lower price.Price pressure: Since the wholesale market on Amazon is highly competitive, there may be price pressure to keep prices low to remain competitive. This can reduce your profit margins and make it more challenging to grow your business.
Limited control over inventory: You’re buying from retailers or online stores, so if the retailer or online stores you’re buying from runs out of stocks, it means you won’t have any inventory to sell on the Amazon store.Time-consuming research: Finding the right products to sell on Amazon wholesale can be time-consuming and require extensive research.
ProfitabilityAccording to Jungle Scout's survey, 48% of retail arbitrage sellers have profit margins on products less than 20%. While 54% of online arbitrage sellers have a profit margins of 16% or higher. The same report shows that 61% of Amazon wholesalers have $5,000 profit per month, and 58% which is most of them, have less than 20% profit margins.

  • Busy 9-to-5 employees looking to start a side hustle.
  • Stay-at-home parents seeking flexible income.

Who Is Warner Fields?

Warner Fields is the creator of FBA Roadmap. He is a recent graduate of the University of Arkansas, having earned a Bachelor of Science in International Business Economics in 2022. During his senior year of college in 2021, Warner generated over $600k in sales and a monthly profit of $19,861.26 through his e-commerce business, which sells millions of dollars worth of brand-name products purchased from retailers like Walmart and Target. Remarkably, he started his business with just $1500.

Besides his successful e-commerce ventures, Warner is a part owner of SellerAmp, where he plays an important role in running operations for their SaaS product. SellerAmp helps Amazon sellers identify profitable products faster, providing valuable resources for e-commerce entrepreneurs. Warner’s contributions to the company are invaluable, and his success in e-commerce serves as an inspiration for aspiring entrepreneurs.

Why Did Warner Fields Create FBA Roadmap?

Warner Fields created FBA Roadmap because he wanted to assist individuals who may have limited resources and experience but still want to create a full-time income. His primary goal was to help the community, including those who have a 9-5 job and busy schedules, by providing them with a step-by-step guide on how to sell on Amazon using the same systems he used. The FBA Roadmap aims to make starting and growing a profitable Amazon business more accessible and achievable for everyone.

Is FBA Roadmap a Legit Course?

Yes, FBA Roadmap is a legit course created by Warner Fields, a 7-figure Amazon seller who built his business from scratch during college. The program teaches online arbitrage and wholesale using proven tools like Keepa, Tactical Arbitrage, and SellerAmp. It includes step-by-step video modules, live Zoom calls, private coaching, and a student Discord with thousands of active members.

The course has grown a strong online presence with over 269K combined followers across platforms and 46K+ YouTube subscribers. Warner is also a part-owner of SellerAmp, a trusted software in the FBA space, adding to his credibility.

That said, “legit” doesn’t mean it’s for everyone. The strategies work, but the business model (Amazon FBA) still requires:

  • Upfront capital for inventory.
  • Constant product research.
  • Dealing with fees, competitors, and Amazon’s rules.

So if you’re looking for a real course with real tactics, yes, FBA Roadmap is legit. If you’re looking for true passive income or less operational grind, you may want to explore another business model.

Does Amazon Allow Online Arbitrage?

Yes, Amazon allows online arbitrage on its platform. However, as an FBA seller, it is important to follow their guidelines and policies to ensure that your account remains in good standing. Amazon has strict rules against price gouging, counterfeit products, and other unethical practices that could harm its customers or reputation. So, if you plan to engage in online arbitrage on Amazon, do so ethically and transparently.

What Are the 6 Tips to Have Success in Amazon Online Arbitrage?

  1. Conduct thorough research: To identify the demand for a product, you can use tools like Google Trends, Amazon Best Sellers, or Jungle Scout to see how often people are searching for or buying the product. You can also check the competition on Amazon by searching for the product and looking at the number of sellers and their pricing. To determine the price points, compare the prices of the product on different marketplaces and calculate the fees and shipping costs to estimate your profit margin.
  2. Use reliable software tools: Some of the top online arbitrage tools include SellerApp, Tactical Arbitrage, Seller Amp, and Keepa. These tools can help you find profitable products, analyze sales data, and track pricing and inventory levels. Before choosing a tool, read reviews from other users and try out the free trials to see if it’s a good fit for your business.
  3. Manage your inventory effectively: To keep track of your inventory, you can use a spreadsheet or inventory management software like InventoryLab or SellerActive. Set up alerts for low stock levels and adjust your pricing to maintain a healthy profit margin. Keep a record of all your expenses, including sourcing costs, shipping fees, and marketplace fees, to calculate your profits accurately.
  4. Develop a strong network: Building relationships with suppliers and buyers can help you have a good product listing and create a reliable source of income. You can also benefit from learning from other successful online arbitrager sellers and sharing your experiences with them. You can join the Amazon Launchpad by the Fields of Profit. There are over 40K Amazon sellers who share their success stories, steps on how to get ungated, source products, and insights if you have inquiries.
  5. Understand the risks: To mitigate the risks of online arbitrage, you can take steps like sourcing from reputable suppliers, thoroughly inspecting products before purchasing, and offering excellent customer service to prevent disputes. Stay up to date with marketplace policies and changes by subscribing to newsletters or following industry blogs. Have a plan in place for handling returns, refunds, and damaged products. Keep updated with top arbitrage sourcing tips .
  6. Continuously monitor your performance: Regularly track your sales data and adjust your strategies based on the results. Analyze your best-selling products and replicate their success by sourcing similar items. Monitor your inventory turnover rate and aim to maintain a healthy profit margin of at least 20%. Review your expenses regularly and look for ways to reduce costs without sacrificing quality.

Is Online Arbitrage Still Profitable?

Online arbitrage can still be profitable, but it depends on several factors, such as the products you are selling, the competition in the market, and your ability to find good deals. There are many people who are making a living from online arbitrage, especially if they can find high-demand products they can sell at a markup. However, keep in mind that the market is constantly changing, and what works today may not work tomorrow. But, according to Jungle Scout, 55% of online arbitrage sellers earned less than $5,000 per month and 16% of them garnered $1,000 and $5,000.

Is FBA Roadmap Worth it?

FBA Roadmap can be worth it because it offers guidance and strategies for starting an Amazon FBA business, with a focus on online arbitrage and wholesale. The program provides a step-by-step guide, along with free resources such as an OA spreadsheet and contact scripts. Additionally, you’ll have access to Lightspeed FBA coaching and a discount for SellerAmp SAS.

However, it’s important to note that online arbitrage and wholesale have their own set of challenges and limitations. For one, the competition is at a different level. About 73% of the 9.5 million Amazon sellers worldwide use FBA to sell. There’s also an increase in Amazon fees, so it’s a lot more expensive than $500 to start. Then, finding profitable products can be difficult. Finally, there are risks when you rely on third-party suppliers, such as issues with quality control or shipping delays. On top of all that, it’s not as passive as you might think. You’ll keep sourcing new products, monitoring prices, and adjusting to Amazon’s rules and fees.

This is why I quit Amazon FBA and switched to local lead generation. With Amazon FBA, I was working very hard for only a small profit. Even though the business got a bit successful (I was earning $15,000 a month), I burned out very quickly. But with local lead generation, I’m able to leave my business alone and still make $52,000 per month! This is why, if you ask me, I highly recommend this business model instead of Amazon FBA.

Why Is Local Lead Generation Better Than Amazon FBA?

Local lead generation is better than Amazon FBA because it gives you full control, higher margins, and passive income, without relying on Amazon’s rules or competition. With this business, you create websites, rank them, and sell the leads to local businesses. It doesn’t need inventory, warehouses, or middlemen eating your margin.

With Amazon FBA, you’re at the mercy of Amazon’s ever-changing rules. In my opinion, it’s like renting a storefront inside the Mall of America, where the landlord can:

  • Raise the rent (fees)
  • Reposition your store (rankings)
  • Kick you out completely (account suspension)

In contrast, with local lead generation, you own the website, the Google rankings, and the leads. It’s your real estate. Think of it like building on your own land instead of renting space in Times Square at New York prices.

Another reason why local lead gen is better is that Amazon FBA lives and dies by wafer-thin margins. Between manufacturing, shipping, warehousing, and Amazon’s cut, your 100% effort might get you a 10% reward. Local lead gen flips that. A plumbing lead costs $0 to acquire and earn you $150 from the contractor. And it’s recurring if your asset ranks long-term.

Finally, Amazon FBA forces you to compete against:

  • Cheaper Chinese manufacturers
  • Hijackers
  • Knockoffs
  • Amazon Basics

With local lead gen, you’re competing in micro-markets, like “roof repair in Spokane”, where few digital marketers go. If you rank on Google’s 3-pack, you effectively own that niche.

Local Lead Generation Is My #1 Business Pick

Local lead generation websites

Local lead generation is my #1 business pick because it’s provides passive income. One website alone, like my site, Los Angeles Quality Drywall, 1555 Westwood Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90024, 323-529-6050, laqualitydrywall.com, already makes $2,500 a month. This is because my contractor earns an average of $25,000/month from my leads. I ask for a 10% commission. This site runs on its own and I hardly have to maintain it. And I only spent 20 hours working on it. Today, with over 50+ sites running on autopilot, I earn $52,000 without constantly checking on my business.

If you’re interested, I created a local lead generation course for you. It teaches you how to build, rank, and sell leads. I also have a special offer to work for one of my roofing clients. He’ll pay you a commission (1-5%) for every site you build and rank for him.
