Top 3 FREE Amazon FBA Courses of 2024

This is the best FREE Amazon FBA training we have found. There's some out there that are 1-2 hrs long but that's not enough time to cover all the bases. The free courses you see on this list are at least 4 hours long and created by reputable 7 figure FBA sellers.

1. How to Sell on Amazon FBA In 2020 | Step by Step

This is number 1 on our list of free courses because few notable Amazon FBA gurus teach it and it covers the basics well.

What we liked:

This free training covers the basics well. And it's taught by actual 7 figure sellers that's been in the coaching space for at least 4 years. Their strategy of finding simple products that already have high demand is great for beginners because it keeps the FBA business simple. Beginners often make the mistake of getting too complex with branding, product innovation, etc. Leave that stuff for the advanced sellers.

7 Figure Amazon seller, great reputation online, has been sharing tips on his YouTube channel since 2018. He runs a FBA training program and an agency that will run the FBA business for you.

What we didn't like:

As expected from a free course, they didn't get deep into the high-level strategies. For example, they rank their Amazon listing by creating direct traffic & sales using Facebook ads. This seems to be their unique advantage, but in this free training, they didn't cover exactly how they set all of this up. 

Who Is This Course For?

This course is great for beginners that have little money to invest. Since their strategy revolves around finding lower-ticket, everyday items but doing the extra work to find the right suppliers with the best deal. Also, the focus is on launching 1 product at a time. This means your initial inventory investment will be minimum. A perfect strategy if you're on a budget.

2. Amazon FBA Complete Tutorial by Dan Vas

This free Amazon FBA training is the most up to date on YouTube and has the most views. This video is ranked #1 on Youtube when searching "Amazon FBA Training" and its nearly 5 hours long. So you know that YouTube algorithm is favoring it as the video most people are favoring. As you go through this free training, you quickly understand why.

What we liked:

It's one of the most thorough free training out there. He covers in-depth topics like what to do when you get a negative review. I like his emphasis on creating an attractive brand to differentiate yourself from the competition & create long-term value. He also answers every question in the comments section. That's dedication that you want to see in a good coach.

7 Figure Amazon seller, been consistently sharing tips & tricks on his YouTube channel since 2017, with over 380K subscribers, one of the bigger Amazon youtubers. He also teaches about Shopify dropshipping as well. I like his methodical approach. He breaks things down step by step so beginners love his teaching style.

What we didn't like:

Some parts of the training may be outdated. For example, he has a section on emailing your customers to ask for a review. This is not possible today in 2024. Amazon no longer gives you access to email information of your customers. You have to do more edgy things to get customer's information. 

Who is This Course For?

This is a great course if you're interested in creating your own brand on Amazon FBA. Do you have any inspiration or passion for some product? When you analyze the competition, do you get ideas about how you can improve the product? You need creativity in this approach. It's not as simple as picking products that's got demand and finding cheaper suppliers like the method discussed in the previous free course by David & Tom.

3. Amazon FBA Course For Beginners by Brock Johnson

Decent free training by Brock on Udemy. He has been YouTube for few years, but in 2019 he announced he retired from YouTube. He's still running his Amazon course though. Although his free training doesn't go too in-depth, his paid course is only $40 and its 45 hours long. That might as well be free.

What we liked:

He covers the beginner stuff well, but his free training is pretty basic. We really like the fact that he offers a more in-depth Amazon FBA training with 45 hours worth of content, plus community & livestreams with Brock for only $40 lifetime access. He also brings in other experts that talk about product research, sourcing, & more.

Started selling on Amazon in 2014, created a brand that later sold for $6 million. Since then he has sold over 5000 products, and shared some tips along the way on his YouTube channel

What we didn't like:

HIs free training is not very comprehensive, better to go with his $40 course. The $40 training has a lot of info but sometimes feels a bit disorganized. The training was filmed in 2018. He also hasn't done the livestream since 2020.

Who is This Course For?

Brock Johnson's $40 course is great for anyone on a budget. It covers much more in-depth than #1 and #2 on this list. We feel that it's still not as good as the high-end courses that are $3000 and up.

Free vs. Paid Amazon FBA Course

Our best Amazon FBA courses list starts from $3000 and up but we feel these courses have few critical things below that you will not find in a free course.

  • Community - paid courses have private Facebook groups where you stay engaged & motivated with a sense of camaraderie and ask questions anytime you want. It's an enormous advantage to get multiple perspectives on any question you have.
  • Live Streams - these higher end courses have coaches that do live streams on a weekly basis where you can tune in and ask any questions you want to the course creator
  • Organized / In-depth training - the actual training is way more in-depth and easier to follow compared to free courses that feels like certain sections were glossed over.

Some people claim paid Amazon FBA courses isn't worth it because the same information exists for free.

From all the courses we've reviewed, we have not found that to be the case.

Paid courses cover high-level strategies in much more detail, not to mention the community and support aspect that comes with it. There's so many steps & variables in the FBA business having the best support goes a long way.

If you have the budget, we would always recommend investing in one of our top FBA courses rather than trying to save money on your training, but if money is tight, then the free courses on this list does a good job at getting you started.

Is Amazon FBA still profitable in 2024?

4000 new sellers join the FBA platform everyday, and there's brands & suppliers joining the FBA game now. It is true a lot of niches have become too competitive for 3rd party sellers like me and you to play ball in. 

The good news is that Amazon is seeing an exponential rise in prime users, 100 million users in 2018 and then 200 million users in 2021. Also, they sell every product under the sun.

You can still be profitable on Amazon FBA but you need to have the right expectations and have the right strategies.

Right expectation means that with more competition, it's that much harder to find the right niche with low enough competition. 

Expect to fail a few product launches and even if you find a winning product, know that you will need to keep launching more products because sometimes a winning product can get beaten out of the market by new competitors.

4-5 years ago, it may have been sound advice to say that you can start a FBA business for $5000. Today I feel you need closer to $10,000 to $15,000 to have the right things in place to succeed.

Conclusion

The best advice is to treat Amazon FBA as a slow grind that you will work on for the next 2-3 years before you're highly profitable. One of the biggest reason for Amazon FBA failure is that people have the wrong expectations.

People underestimate how much its going to cost and the fact that you may have to endure few failed product launches, each time costing you some time and money.

As long as you keep taking action and don't give up, you will learn a lot each time. Even with free or paid courses, nothing beats gaining real world experience. But in order to gain that experience, you need enough expendable income to continue to put into this business.

Ideally, you're starting a FBA business as a side hustle and you have another source of steady income. If losing $10,000 sounds like a death sentence to you, maybe Amazon FBA is not right for you.

If passive income was easy to create, everyone will be doing it. It's not easy but it's worth it because passive income dramatically improves quality of life.

Amazon FBA is still among one of the best opportunities for that passive income, amongst others.

Amazon FBA is a great business model but like all businesses it has its challenges, particularly how competitive it's becoming as more big brands & suppliers began selling on FBA themselves 2-3 years ago.

Another business model I've had a lot of success with is local lead generation. It's simple and less competitive. It might be a better fit for some people.
