Lead Gen Jay Review - Is Jay Feldman’s Cold Email Still Effective in 2025? + An Alternative

Updated On

Lead Gen Jay is Jay Feldman's done-for-you system that sets up your emails, offers curated email lists, and writes 3 email copies for you. He offers all that for a one-time payment of $97. However, expect a lot of upsells, including his Insider Program for $1,500. Overall, I find Lead Gen Jay helpful for those who are set on using email marketing to generate leads. But it relies too much on Jay's systems and doesn't teach you anything of your own. Also, cold email marketing has a low response rate at 5.8% and a much lower conversion rate. This is why I focus on local lead generation, because it has a 14.6% close rate.

Lead Gen Jay review

Lead Gen Jay is Jay Feldman’s offer to set up your cold emails for you. For just $97, he’ll set up your email infrastructure correctly, build an email list with qualified leads, and write an effective email copy that books calls. Jay uses his knowledge, technical team, key partnerships, and custom GPT to get everything ready in a few minutes. The promise is that you can focus on closing leads instead of chasing them.

Lead Gen Jay reviews are mostly positive. The sales page has a lot of testimonials and even case studies. It also has a 4.9-star rating on Trustpilot from 152 reviews. However, Jay Feldman’s name isn’t all positive online. Back in 2019, when he was a first-year resident, he got in trouble with controversial social media posts and product endorsements. This makes a few people hesitant to trust him.

I run my own lead generation business, and in my opinion, Lead Gen Jay’s cold email system is like Tony Stark in Iron Man 3 turning on the House Party Protocol so an army of Iron Man suits swarms the final battle on the Norco oil tanker all night. As they get blasted apart, he keeps jumping into a new suit just to stay in the fight. For you, that means you always have to send emails. Pretty soon, you’ll be buried in building lists and writing copy. Sure, Jay can do the first few, but you can’t rely on him forever. And if you don’t understand the tech, your emails can end up in spam, where no lead will see or trust them.

In this Lead Gen Jay review, I go over its pros and cons, what you can expect, who the creator is, and if cold email is still effective in 2025. I also compare cold emails to local lead generation, an alternative that’s passive and long-term.

Is Lead Gen Jay’s Cold Email Strategy Still Effective in 2025?

Lead Gen Jay’s cold email strategy is still effective in 2025, but it’s not as easy as it used to be. You can’t just copy and paste a script and expect big results anymore. And here’s why:

  • Businesses are getting way more emails than before. You have to stand out.
  • Spam filters are smarter now. Your emails can easily land in the junk folder.
  • Businesses only reply if the email feels personal and helpful.

According to Saleshandy’s 2024 Cold Email Benchmarks Report, the average response rate for cold emails is only 5.8%. The report goes on to say that the rate improves to 10% or even 20% if the email addresses the person’s specific needs.

Lead Gen Jay gives you a done-for-you system to get started. But you’ll need to do a few extra things, like:

  • Mention the person’s name or something specific about them or their business.
  • Keep emails short (under 100 words is best).
  • Follow up 2-3 times if they don’t reply.
  • Don’t send too many emails at once (it can hurt your deliverability).

The bottom line is that cold email still works, but success depends on sending smart, personalized messages. You can no longer just blast out templates. So Lead Gen Jay is a good starting point for beginners, as long as you’re willing to learn and improve your outreach along the way.

Is Lead Gen Jay Legit or a Scam?

Lead Gen Jay is legit and not a scam. It delivers what it promises: a done-for-you cold email system that reaches out and follows up leads effectively. The method is real, and many students have shared success stories.

However, cold email is just the door opener. The real challenge is getting prospects to say “yes” once they respond. That depends on how well you position your offer, prove your value, and handle objections. So if you’re expecting the system to do everything for you, you might be disappointed. But if you’re ready to learn, adapt, and build some sales skills along the way, it can absolutely work.

What Do Lead Gen Jay Reviews Say?

Lead Gen Jay reviews say that the done-for-you systems work and the Insider Program is super helpful. One case study shows how the system helped Michaels and Marc Restoration, a roofing contractor in Denver, generate 145 opportunities worth $635,000.

Lead Gen Jay case studies

David Schutz, the CEO of JAF Consulting, praises the Lead Gen Insider’s Program. In his testimonial, he says it taught him how to automate his own lead gen email sequences that worked wonders. After spending almost $20K on courses, he says Jay Feldman’s was the most valuable one.

One Reddit user says they’ve been struggling with lead generation. But after taking Jay’s course, they were able to grow their client base. What they really liked was the easy-to-understand teaching style and the effective templates and scripts.

However, I noticed that many of these reviews are vague and don’t share exact numbers. One Redditor says that the positive reviews are super suspicious, especially since they all opened their accounts at the same time.

Is lead gen jay legit

Kenneth Benson on Trustpilot commented that, although Lead Gen Jay set up his systems perfectly, Instantly.ai failed to deliver a proper email list. And he was left clueless. That’s why they say it would be better if there were mentorship and follow-up after the system was set up.

Who Is Jay Feldman?

Jay Feldman

Jay Feldman is an entrepreneur, marketer, coach, and medical doctor. Jay positions himself as the #1 lead generation expert, and backs it up with several ventures, including:

  • Otter PR (public relations agency). Jay scaled this agency to $600K using cold email. It earned recognition on the Inc. 5000 and Gator100 fastest-growing company lists.
  • Lead Gen Jay (DFY service and program). This is Jay’s offer to automate cold email systems for businesses. It also comes with an Insider Program ($1,500) that teaches you all about lead generation through email marketing.
  • Mentors Collective (podcast). Jay interviews 6-, 7-, 8-figure entrepreneurs and agency startup owners. One of his most notable guests was Jeremy Slate. Here, he talks about lead generation, startup growth, PR, mindset, and automation.
  • Dr. Jay Feldman (YouTube channel). Jay says he’s an Osteopathic physician who discusses alternative health topics. His channel has 18.7K subscribers.

Jay Feldman is a known figure within his industry, and people have positive things to say about him. However, his medical background has stirred some criticism online, mostly around his use of the “doctor” title after leaving medicine and his controversial product endorsements. The Institute for Health Policy and Leadership even published an article about Jay. However, all that has nothing to do with his business side, so it’s just a matter of personal perception and how much that matters to you as a buyer.

What Are Jay Feldman’s Claims?

Jay Feldman claims Lead Gen Jay can bring in over 1,500 leads a day so you wake up to booked calls. He says it’s the fastest way to get leads without hiring an agency or spending thousands on ads. You don’t have to do anything much either, since Jay and his team will set everything up for you.

Are Jay Feldman’s Claims Realistic?

Jay Feldman’s claims can be realistic, but they need some context. Yes, cold emails can scale fast and reach large volumes of prospects. However, the average person won’t get booked calls overnight unless you know how to:

  • Position a compelling offer.
  • Handle real conversations.
  • Deliver what you promise.

Also, most cold email inboxes are capped at 30-50 emails a day to stay safe. You need at least 20+ inboxes to reach 1,500 prospects a day. Plus, that doesn’t mean you’re getting 1,500 warm leads or booked calls daily. In most cases, only 15-75 people might reply, and fewer than 10 may be real opportunities.

What Are Alternatives to Lead Gen Jay?

  • Ian Stanley’s 90 Days to Freedom . This teaches you how to get paid by writing simple, template-driven “money-making” email campaigns for businesses. You offer email copywriting as a service to clients instead of just building your own email list.
  • Igor Kheifet’s List Building Lifestyle . This program focuses on “e-farming” and building a highly responsive email list through mentorship, hot seats, and an inner-circle community. It treats your list as your main online asset.
  • Shawn Josiah’s Email Profit Academy . This uses email marketing specifically to drive affiliate commissions. It combines niche selection, landing page copy, and structured promo sequences with Skool-based exercises and 1-on-1 coaching.

Is Lead Gen Jay Worth It?

Lead Gen Jay is worth it if you’re planning to do cold email marketing. Jay Feldman and his team set up a system designed to keep your emails out of spam. They also find quality email lists and write a 3-email sequence for you to make your marketing efforts more effective.

It’s not worth it, however, if you want to learn all about cold email marketing strategies. For that, you’ll have to pay for the higher-priced offer called Lead Gen Insider Program for $1,500. And for me, there are many cheaper or even free resources that teach you how to do this.

What’s more, even though cold email marketing does work, it’s not the best lead generation strategy. This is because:

  • 📉 Cold outreach has lower trust and conversion rates. Most small business owners are busy and skeptical of unsolicited emails, especially in industries flooded with sales pitches (like marketing, SEO, or lead gen).
  • ⚠️ You’re competing with thousands of other agencies. In 2025, local businesses are getting dozens of cold emails every week. Without a strong personal brand, social proof, or referrals, it’s easy to be ignored, even with a solid offer.
  • 🧊 It’s a cold start with no inbound momentum. Cold outreach doesn’t create long-term brand equity. Once you stop emailing, your pipeline stops too. There’s no “compound effect.”

If your goal is long-term lead flow and higher trust, I highly recommend local lead generation.

Why Local Lead Generation Is Better Than Cold Email Marketing?

Local lead generation is better than cold email marketing because leads come to you instead of you chasing them. With local lead gen, you create a website and rank it through local SEO. Once ranked, people searching for your service in the area can easily find you. A Backlinko report found that the top 3 ranked results get 44% of all clicks, and most of those convert into phone calls.

Plus, according to Think With Google, 78% of local mobile searches lead to a purchase or service booking within 24 hours. Local SEO leads also have a 14.6% close rate, compared to email marketing’s 5.8% response rate.

Cold email marketing requires ongoing effort. You need to create compelling and personalized emails to grab attention. And the moment you stop sending those emails, your leads die down.

Local lead generation websites stay ranked for many months, keeping the lead flow consistent. And they’re the ones looking for your service, so they’re ready to convert.

In my opinion, cold email marketing is like Will Smith’s character in The Pursuit of Happyness. He’s cold-calling hundreds of potential clients from his brokerage office. He’s hustling nonstop, trying to break through, but most people never pick up or say no. Cold email marketing takes volume, persistence, and thick skin. Local lead generation, on the other hand, is like running a Chick-fil-A drive-thru at lunchtime. People are already hungry, they trust the brand, and they’re lining up for what you offer. There’s no convincing required.

The best thing about local lead generation is that you can actually turn it into your own business. You create several local lead gen websites and sell the leads to actual local businesses. This is the business model that I run, and it earns me $52,000 a month.

Local Lead Generation Is My Top Business Model for 2025

Local lead gen websites

Local lead generation is my top business model for 2025 because it’s true passive income. When you set up your websites, rank them, and find local businesses that need leads, it works on autopilot. For example, my site, Huntington Beach Pro ADU Builder, 7772 Warner Avenue, Huntington Beach, CA 92647, 714-464-7610 https://www.huntingtonbeachproadu.com/, generated 15 new leads last month worth $38,120. Since my client, the pro ADU builder, pays me a 10% commission for the leads I send, I got $3,812 without much effort. And it only took me 25 hours to build and rank this website. I was able to scale to $52K/month because it’s so easy to repeat the build, rank, and sell process.

If you’re interested in this business model, you can check out my local lead gen training program. I teach you how to use it to get your own leads or start your own 6-figure business. I’ve already helped over 7,000 students. I have another opportunity for you, and that is to work for my roofing client. You simply build and rank websites for him, and he’ll pay you a 1% to 5% commission.
