Abby Anokye’s Savvy Seller Review — 4 Key Elements to Find Best Private Label Product + A Passive Alternative

Savvy Seller FBA is a step-by-step course on launching and growing a private-label Amazon FBA business. It covers topics such as product research, sourcing, branding, and marketing. Savvy Seller FBA contains over 100 distinct classes and has over 15 hours of content discussing the ins and outs of private-label Amazon FBA. The creator, Abby Anokye (also known as Learn with Abby), also offers a free 90-minute training video and an Amazon FBA 101 e-book.
As someone who’s done Amazon FBA before, my opinion is that Savvy Seller FBA makes you think you’re on autopilot because you booked a flight on Delta. In reality, you’re the pilot who has to manage turbulence, fuel, and navigation. The platform just handles the luggage, not the whole journey. Sure, you don’t deal with shipping, storage, and returns. But you still have to consistently source inventory from suppliers on platforms like Alibaba, create optimized product listings, and run ads through Amazon PPC to stay competitive. If you’re looking for a business model with passive income, this isn’t the best choice. Plus, the Amazon Marketplace is incredibly saturated in 2025. Countless sellers are offering near-identical products under private label brands. Competing against large-volume sellers or manufacturers from Shenzhen with razor-thin margins makes it tough to stand out, attract buyers, and convert them.
In this Savvy Seller FBA review, I explain what’s included, weigh the pros and cons, and help you decide if the course is worth it. I also show you the course’s 4 elements to find the best private-label product to sell on Amazon. At the end, I give you a business model that’s truly passive income. It’s called local lead generation.

I took the Savvy Seller course by Abby, and here’s my quick review. On the downside, it’s pricey at $1,997, requires $5,000 to $10,000 in startup capital, and has slim profit margins (10-20%) due to various costs. However, the positives are that the course is super detailed with over 100 lessons and 15 hours of content. Abby’s weekly coaching calls are really helpful, and you get access to useful templates, a private community, and great case studies.

What Are the 4 Elements To Find the Best Private Label Product?
The 4 elements to find the best private label product are:
- High demand and low competition. Look for those with a Best Seller Rank (BSR) of 5,000 or lower in the major category, and with less than 100 reviews, showing low competition. Also, check if the product is priced between $20 and $70 and has at least 300 monthly sales. You can use tools like Jungle Scout or Helium 10 to research these metrics easily.
- Improving existing products. Read customer reviews of similar products to identify areas that need improvement. If a popular product has many negative reviews, consider improving its quality or design. Look for products with lower ratings and a maximum of 4 stars, as this shows room for improvement. Check the competitor’s listing quality score, which should be between 5 to 7 LQS, to see where their listings need improvement.
- Considering production and shipping costs. It’s crucial to estimate production and shipping costs accurately using the Amazon FBA Calculator. For example, if you’re selling a private label phone case, calculate the cost of production, shipping, and Amazon fees to set a price that covers all expenses and generates a reasonable profit. Avoid items that are fragile, large, and heavy that can be expensive to produce and ship.
- Product differentiation. To find the best private label product, it’s could be differentiated from similar products. This can be achieved by adding unique features, packaging, or branding. Adding a special ingredient, unique color or scent, or exclusive packaging can set your product apart from others. Another example is creating a specific brand identity, such as targeting eco-conscious consumers.

What Are Alternatives to Savvy Seller FBA?
- Amazon Beginner Mastery. This is a private-label Amazon FBA course launched by Crescent Kao in 2021. It teaches Crescent’s 5-step process covering essentials like product research, supplier negotiation, listing optimization, and Amazon PPC. The course is praised for its depth, but critics note the lack of public criticism may raise transparency concerns.
- Elite E-Commerce FBA Blitz. This is a coaching program from three 8-figure Amazon sellers, named Tay, Mar, and Shofi. It emphasizes brand-building and smart inventory strategies, helping students focus on profitable SKUs rather than bulk stockpiling. The course has earned a 4.3 Trustpilot rating, with customers praising its accessible mentors, hands-on support, and actionable content. It’s ideal for sellers who want both mentorship and a systems-based approach to scaling their FBA business.
- AMZ Shifu by Justin. This is a private-label Amazon FBA mentorship program led by Justin Cao and Charlie Pham, who together have generated over $19M in annual sales. The program focuses on teaching students how to start, scale, and eventually sell their own branded FBA businesses. Students like Susan Hang, a freelance writer, report earning $7.8K in their first month, citing the community as a key benefit. Others, like Tom Nguyen, a former finance executive, credit the mentors for helping them transition into e-commerce and overcome early challenges. AMZ Shifu is best suited for those seeking hands-on coaching and long-term brand-building.
Is Amazon Private Label Profitable?
Amazon private label can still be profitable in 2025, but it’s far from what it used to be, making it increasingly difficult for beginners. The upfront costs for inventory, shipping, branding, and Amazon PPC ads have risen. Competition from global manufacturers, especially large-scale suppliers in China, has flooded the marketplace with nearly identical products. To succeed, you’ll need more than just a good product idea. You’ll need in-depth keyword research, high-converting listings with A+ content and compelling images, strong supplier relationships, and consistent cash flow to manage inventory reorders, cover Amazon PPC, handle slow-moving stock, and stay ahead of algorithmic shifts. In most cases, Amazon private label becomes a high-effort, capital-intensive business, not the passive income model many imagine.
Is Savvy Seller FBA Worth It?
Savvy Seller FBA is worth it if:
- ✅ You’re a beginner who needs a step-by-step guide to launching a private-label Amazon FBA product.
- ✅ You want help understanding Amazon systems like ASIN creation, PPC ads, and shipment plans.
- ✅ You’re looking for a structured course to avoid common mistakes in product research, supplier outreach (e.g., via Alibaba), and listing setup.
It may not be worth it if:
- ❌ You’re seeking true passive income. FBA requires ongoing management, unlike what some course promotions suggest.
- ❌ You expect to stand out in a saturated market just by branding a generic product, especially when competing with thousands offering similar items at scale.
- ❌ You’re looking for a business model that offers long-term control over the platform, customer data, and pricing. Amazon owns the marketplace, not you.
If you’re looking for a simpler, more scalable business model that actually earns while you sleep, consider local lead generation. This is the business model that I stuck with after trying Amazon FBA. It’s lower risk, less saturated, and far more passive once you’re set up. It earns big, too - I make around $52,000 a month!
Why Local Lead Generation Is Better Than Amazon Private Label?

Local lead generation is better than Amazon private label because it’s safer and more passive. It’s a digital business model that involves creating websites in a particular niche. When it ranks and brings in traffic, you can sell the leads to local businesses and earn passive income with little to no maintenance. It’s a lucrative online opportunity given that there are 41,683 ZIP Codes in the US alone and 33.2 million small businesses spread throughout the country. Local lead generation is also better because it has:
- 💸 Lower startup costs. You don’t need $3,000-$10,000 for inventory, branding, and Amazon PPC. With local lead gen, you can launch a site for as little as $500 and rank it organically with local SEO.
- 🛠️ No suppliers or inventory headaches. Unlike Amazon private label, you’re not dealing with Shenzhen manufacturers, freight forwarding, delays, defective units, or stock availability. You’re selling leads, not physical products.
- 🔁 Passive income potential. Once your website ranks on Google, it generates leads on autopilot. There’s no restocking, no ads, no customer support. I was able to travel from Japan to Ireland to Colombia without stressing over my business.
- 🔍 Less competition, more control. Instead of competing with thousands of sellers offering the same garlic press or yoga mat, you’re outranking a few local service businesses that aren’t even optimizing for SEO.
- 📈 Higher ROI over time. Amazon FBA requires continuous reinvestment to stay visible (ads, promos, giveaways). Local lead gen has minimal upkeep once ranked. Plus, sites can earn 90%+ profit margins long-term.
- 🧠 You own the digital asset. With Amazon FBA, Amazon owns the platform. They control the rules, your reviews, and even your customers. With local lead generation, you own the asset and the traffic. In my opinion, it’s like owning a restaurant on your own land instead of renting space inside a mall owned by Simon Property Group. When you control the property, no one can raise your rent, change your rules, or take away your customers.
Local Lead Generation Is My #1 Passive Income Source

Local lead generation is my #1 passive income source because it requires little work once set up. When I was doing Amazon FBA, I was constantly on my laptop, searching for suppliers, listing new products, begging for reviews, and all that. For all my hard work, I was only making $1,500 to $3,000 profit. And that was way back in 2017, with it wasn’t so saturated yet. When I switched to local lead generation, everything changed. My profit each month comes out to $52,000. I also only spent 15 to 25 hours building and ranking each website. After that, I can leave the sites alone. For example, my website, Kenosha Elite Roofing, 2053 22nd Avenue, Kenosha, WI 53140, 262-592-8889, kenoshaeliteroofing.com, makes $2,500 on its own each month. It sells at least 4 exclusive leads to my roofing company client in Kenosha. The company makes 50,000 and gives me a 5% commission.
If you want to learn the skills required to master local lead generation, check out my local lead gen course. I teach you how to choose a service niche, build websites, do local SEO, and talk to businesses. I also have a special offer. You can work with my roofing client for a commission.
