Pejman Ghadimi’s Watch Trading Academy Review: 3 Challenges With Flipping Watches

July 7, 2024

The Watch Trading Academy (WTA) is an educational platform by Pejman Ghadimi. It teaches individuals how to profit from buying, selling, and trading luxury watches. WTA is the new version of Pejman Ghadimi’s course, Watch Conspiracy. Both programs teach you to purchase a watch at its bottom cash or intrinsic asset value. Then, you sell it at a profit.  The program offers various courses and resources. It helps members understand the intricacies of the watch market. It also covers identifying valuable timepieces and developing strategies for successful trading.

Reviews of the Watch Trading Academy from Reddit and Facebook are mixed. Some users praise the academy for its resources and helpful community. Users like Jason Ross, David Henderson, and Ben Stone recommend the academy. However, others describe it as a high-level multi-level marketing scheme. Critics like Richard Michael Tarangelo report a canceled membership without refunds. According to Ghadimi, it is typical for watch flipping to give you a 19% ROI within 72 hours of purchase. He does open your eyes to the relatively untapped market of luxury watch trading. But he doesn’t provide you with any strategies that you couldn’t figure out on your own. The only real bonus to the Academy is access to a very active Facebook community. This group may offer insider tips and tricks.

And even with that, remember that watch flipping is an active business model. This means that the amount of money you earn relies solely on how much work you put into it. That being said, watch flipping requires a fair amount of work and patience. Even Ghadimi admits to it. Watch flipping can be a lucrative business model. But it requires a high capital and an eye for counterfeits. You need to constantly check marketplaces to get the best deals. This makes watch flipping a good side hustle, but not a passive income e-commerce.

In this Watch Trading Academy Review, we will discuss its pros and cons, contents, and reviews. It also covers the needed capital to start and the best watches to buy for beginners. Also, we will look at another business that provides more consistent results with less capital.

As a member, sometimes the Facebook group is helpful. They tell you to ask all your questions even if they’re stupid questions. But then when you ask a question that you think you really should be asking before you jump into an expensive purchase, you get responses like, “That’s not really how it works around here.”

They sell you they’re training in groups. Group 1, group 2 and so on. You pay for Groupon to find out that you’re not going to make any serious money unless you buy group two. I’m not going to pay for group 2 because that’s what I was expecting in group 1. Group 2 is just going to tell me that the real money is in group 3.

These people are indeed slick talkers. PJ seems sincere, but I can substantiate much of what he says. The prices at which he says you must buy these watches just don’t exist. You pretty much buy his course and he teaches you that if you can buy gold at 50% of retail, you can make a lot of money. Send everyone who is selling gold lowball offers and hope some accept…just like you would do with any other items you may want to resell.

In 2019, I joined Watch Trading Academy (WTA) eager to learn and make some extra cash. I studied all the content, but shortly before the pandemic, I encountered some life problems. Years later, after rebuilding my life, I tried logging into WTA only to find my account canceled and the money I spent gone. Penjami, the founder, is a smooth talker but lacks respect for others. If you ask questions as a newbie, lose your password, or unknowingly break a rule, they respond with harsh messages, ban you, and keep your money. Good luck.

3 Challenges With Flipping Watches

1. You Need High Capital To Get Started.

Most experts recommend starting with an initial budget of $5,000. The profits from each sale must go into buying more expensive watches each time. As much as possible, refrain from collecting your profits until after at least 6 months. Ghadimi claims that you can start watch flipping with just $1,500. But this may only get you premium watches on the lower end of the spectrum. Watch flipping is not a get-rich-quick scheme. Anyone who suggests otherwise is lying.

The more capital you have, the higher your chances are of earning more profit. However, you need to reinvest your profit to increase your inventory. This means you can earn a high ROI on your first sale. But you should wait until you can receive a stable amount of income. This also depends on how active you are in selling. It usually takes around 6 months to 1 year for you to see any noticeable difference in your monthly income.

2. You Need To Be Able To Distinguish Counterfeits.

It is crucial that you can distinguish between counterfeit watches. Havocscope suggests that there are over 40 million counterfeit watches sold each year. This ensures quality watches, which are crucial in maintaining your customer base. Customers who find out that you sell fake watches are unlikely to buy from you again. They might post your name on online forums and communities. This can do a lot of damage to your reputation.

Ghadimi says that he will teach you how to spot a counterfeit, including a fake Rolex. Wired said that experts are now warning of sophisticated fakes. They are incredibly difficult to differentiate from authentic pieces. This means that you need advanced skills to spot a fake Rolex like a pro. Yet, Ghadimi openly states that he only relies on visual cues to tell a fake watch from the rest. But honestly, this might be insufficient.

3. You Need To Constantly Check Marketplaces To Get the Best Deals.

When you flip watches, you need to be online in various marketplaces to get the best deals. In this fast-paced industry, the phrase, "you snooze, you lose" heavily applies. Taking a break for hours risks you missing out on premium, high-paying customers. These customers can give you the best ROI.

Even if Ghadimi will tell you where to look, which is mostly Facebook. To outperform your competitors, it's important to regularly check your phone. Remember that clients have no clue who you are. They are only looking for a salesperson who will give them the best price for their desired watch. They are not bound to hold out on a deal just because of who you are. So, you must be online so that you can speak to your customers as soon as possible.

What is Watch Trading Academy?

Watch Trading Academy is a three-part program. It has over 6 hours of videos, downloadable cheat sheets, case studies, and bonuses. It is a complete step-by-step program that teaches how to flip watches. The academy has everything you need to become a watch investor and earn around $10,000 to $25,000 a month.

How Does Watch Trading Work?

Pejman Ghadimi says watch trading works in 4 very simple processes. First, you need to source a luxury watch brand. You may use his “secret” bottom cash value formula and trading system. Once you receive the watch, list it for sale at a profit. Find a buyer and get paid. Then ship it to your buyer. It’s the same formula that Ghadimi himself uses. This earned him more than a million dollars within six months of 2021.

What is the Secret To Watch Flipping?

Ghadimi says that the secret to watch flipping is knowing the four watch types. This includes:

  • Commercial: Swiss Army, Seko, and Luminox
  • Fashion: Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Dior
  • Mid-range: Cvstos, Uboat, and IWC
  • Boutique: Blancpain, Panerai, and Rolex watches

The key is to focus on the last two categories. These are the ones that forward-thinking investors want to purchase as income-generating assets. You need to treat your watch as an investment rather than personal property. Those who will buy a pre-owned high-end watch from you are those who also view watches as an investment.

What Will You Learn From Watch Trading Academy?

  • Complete list of the best watches to flip and models with the highest ROI
  • Formulas to help you easily determine target pricing and future values
  • Inside look at how jewelers operate as well as exposing their profit margins
  • In-depth “Wealth Transfer”, “Risk Exposure”, and “Bottom Cash Value” training
  • Where to find the best watch deals today from motivated sellers
  • Detailed guide on how to verify the authenticity of any luxury watch
  • Step-by-step explanation of the buying and selling process.
  • How to sell your watch as fast as possible to get the most profit
  • Shipping hacks to get fast but cheap shipping with full insurance
  • Live trading negotiation strategies and getting watches at bottom cash value

What is Bottom Cash Value?

The bottom cash value is the intrinsic value the watch has at its manufacture. This differs from wholesale because it already adds a profit to the bottom cash value. Your goal is to buy a real boutique watch at its bottom cash value and then sell it at its retail price. There are two options you can consider in getting a watch’s bottom cash value. The first is to contact the local dealer directly and ask them to sell their items. Most likely, you will need to split the profit with the dealer - or you can submit a sell or trade-in form online.

What is Risk Exposure?

Risk exposure is the cost difference between the watch's intrinsic value and how much you sell it. Ghadimi said that watch flipping depends heavily on buying it as close to its bottom cash value. This is to minimize risk exposure and maximize your profits.

What is the Wealth Transfer Strategy?

Wealth Transfer Strategy is a simple game plan that encourages you to reinvest your profit after each sale. This is so that you can buy more expensive watches and earn more money.

What are the Watch Trading Academy Bonuses?

  • Private members-only community - Get help from over 15,000 members.
  • Most profitable watches for beginners - A cheat sheet for new watch investors.
  • Archives of 300+ case studies - Gain access to case studies on how to manage your business correctly
  • Real replica examples demonstration - Learn to spot a fake watch from a mile away.
  • Live “over the shoulder” negotiation - Watch Pejman Ghadimi do actual hunts online. See the exact sites he uses and his search criteria. He also shares negotiation scripts to get bottom cash value pricing easily.

What are the Watch Trading Academy Modules?

  • Module 1: Market Research - This section teaches you to search for watches in seller markets like eBay.
  • Module 2: Authenticity - Here, Ghadimi tells you how to spot a fake watch. However, even experienced experts can’t recognize some of today’s counterfeit watches. Many fake watches today are so sophisticated. They pass the basic visual “spot” test that Ghadimi will teach you.
  • Module 3: Selling - This focuses on common-sense advice. For example, taking good pictures of your watch before posting it. Ghadimi encourages students to “copycat” others.

Does Watch Trading Academy Offer a Free Training?

Yes, Watch Trading Academy offers free training. This roughly 2-hour free training can be viewed on the official Watch Trading Academy website. I use “training” lightly because around 85% of the video was about how wonderful the program is and the countless students who’ve achieved success using the program. You can receive the discounted price of $497 if you watch the video until the end.

Watch Trading Academy Reviews

A lot of reviews on Watch Trading Academy say that Ghadimi just tells you minor things. They said that you most likely already know them. Or you could know for free by asking any watch enthusiast. There is no real secret to what he does. But what Ghandimi sells you is the dream of earning money by doing less. However, as mentioned, this is not a passive income opportunity.

Watch Training Academy Reviews From Reddit

The reviews about the Watch Trading Academy from Reddit comprise mixed opinions. One Redditor, todayisforgotten, believes it only benefits those who already have money. He added that community is the only valuable aspect of the course. However, some members often sell watches at high prices, making it hard for others to profit. He also feels that strategies taught, such as selling on eBay, are outdated and saturated. Also, he suggested that one can find more valuable information for free on YouTube.

ImmediateSeesaw6711 said that WTA is a high-level multi-level marketing scheme. Although, not necessarily a scam. She said that it teaches unethical sales tactics. Also, she added that it focuses on recruiting new members. These new members end up selling watches to previous members for small profits. She also feels that the leaders and staff are gatekeeping their practices.

On a positive note, LovingLaborFineFoods said that he finds watch trading successful. She attributes her success to the knowledge gained from the academy. She added that it provided valuable resources and saved them time for learning the trade.

Watch Training Academy Reviews From Facebook

Watch Trading Academy reviews from Facebook are full of irrelevant promotions. However, a closer inspection tells you that some sound legit. For example, Jason Ross praises the group for its knowledge and helpfulness. He said that the members of the group will assist with various goals. From wearing luxury watches to potentially replacing one's income. David Henderson said that the academy offers great value and recommends it to others. However, Richard Michael Tarangelo said the academy canceled his membership without a refund. He also finds that the response from the academy was dismissive and unprofessional.

Are Watch Trading Academy Students Successful?

Yes, Watch Trading Academy students are successful. This is based on the social proofs posted on Pejman's platforms. For instance, Kyle James posted in their private group that he earned $235 from selling #6 Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Black SS with 18K Rose Gold. You can see a lot of posts like this on the Watch Trading Academy website.

Is Watch Trading Academy a Scam?

No, Watch Trading Academy is not a scam. Pejman Ghadimi has been doing this successfully for years, so he knows what he’s doing. However, there are more negative reviews about the quality of his content. People say that they paid $500, but it is too much. They said you could learn if you're diligent in watching YouTube videos.

Who is Pejman Ghadimi?

Pejman Ghadimi is the man behind Watch Trading Academy. He is also a YouTuber and an entrepreneur. His first business venture was Exotic Car Hacks. This was also the name of his first YouTube channel. The program teaches you how to buy and sell exotic cars at a profit. He claimed to help over 15,000 students reach financial independence.

Ghadimi then founded the Entourage Legacy, also known as the Secret Entourage. This is a business leadership coaching program. To date, both Exotic Car Hacks and Entourage Legacy are still active on social media. Ghadimi also claims to teach how to create profitable day trading side businesses. He advocates tapping into niche markets and developing an abundance mindset.

Ghadimi is also a best-selling author of a mindset leadership trilogy. These are the Third Circle Theory, RADIUS, and Gate of Choice. Deviating from exotic cars, Ghadimi then branched out into mid-range and boutique watches. Many believed that he used the same trading techniques as Exotic Car Hacks. He maximizes a technique called the “Wealth Transfer Strategy”. This claims to help his students achieve the results they desire in only 30 days.

Ghadimi says that watch flipping is a highly lucrative and still untapped market. It is a “conservative” projection for graduates of his program to earn a 15% to 25% ROI within a month. He said that his typical student can earn even more in less time, around 15% ROI within 24 hours. He also manages a YouTube channel called Watch Trading Academy with 29.8K subscribers and 452 videos. This channel features watch investing lessons and WTA students' success.

How Much Capital Do You Need To Start Flipping Watches?

You need around $1500 capital to flip watches. Pejman Ghadimi claims in his online trading academy that you can start flipping watches with this amount. He shows real-life examples of students who now earn $25,000 a month. Those who joined his “100k Gold Members Club” started earning after a few months with this capital.

However, his very own Wealth Transfer strategy and what he claims is his “typical” ROI doesn’t add up. Let me break this down for you.

  • Let’s say you bought a watch for $1,500.
  • You sell it at a profit with a 19% ROI (Ghadimi’s “average” ROI). This means that you earn $285 for your first sale.
  • You can now either reinvest $1,785 to buy a new watch with a profit of $339.15 or buy another watch at $1,500 for a $285 profit.
  • Let's say you keep buying watches at $1,500 with a 19% profit. You would need to sell 17 watches to get the “conservative” monthly income of $5,000.

However, this doesn’t even consider payment processing or shipment fees. So, it could take more than a month for you to receive $5,000. Of course, you could “hack” the system by buying more watches. But this makes the other watches “on hold”, which also means that you need more capital to start. This is a problem for Watch Trading Academy. Most of their sales pitch is that you could double or even quintuple your starting capital in just 30 days. Ghandimi even shows a chart that says that you can earn $5,000 a month with just $2,000.

But again, none of this considers shipping time and when you will receive the money. It also assumes that you will receive the money within 24 hours of posting, which is unlikely. There are just so many assumptions about Ghadimi’s model. This may be because of the need to oversimplify the business so that more people will buy his program.

Ghadimi is a serial entrepreneur who has openly stated that his goal in life is to earn money. He not only does this by flipping watches, but also earns at least $500 for people who buy his program.  There is potential to watch flipping, but it is not as easy or as automatic as Ghandimi paints. Realistically, you should have at least a 5- to 6-figure capital to boost your income potential.

What are the Best Watches to Flip for Beginners?

Some of the best watches for beginners to flip include Hublot’s Big Bang, Aero Classic, and Classic Fusion. These watches have gained a reputation for their unique designs and skeletonized dials. Ulysse Nardin's Marine Chronometer 43mm and New Freak models are also in high demand. Cartier's Skeleton, Roadster, and Santos models are popular and stable in the secondary market. The Santos model increases in value by 7% annually.

Panerai’s 1950 casing models are robust and keep up to 85% of their value. The Seiko's SKX Series saw a 10% increase in value after production ceased in 2019. Omega Speedmaster appreciates by 8% each year. Tag Heuer’s Carrera keeps around 75% of its original value. Tudor's Back Bay Fifty-Eight appreciates by about 5% annually.

Pejman said that there are alternatives to selling watches, according to Ghadimi. However, he said that none of them are worthwhile. In his 2-hour free training, Ghadimi compares watch flipping to other money-making models. This includes real estate, 401k/IRA, cryptocurrency, and stocks from the stock market. Ghadimi says that only watch flipping offers consistent results with the least risk.

Are Flipping Watches Profitable for Beginners?

Flipping watches can be a profitable venture for beginners. Especially if they choose the right models and understand the market dynamics. A case study of Phil Reid illustrates that you can make $10,000 a week by selling Rolex watches. This is with an initial investment of $5,000. For beginners, it is advisable to avoid high-end brands. This includes Audemars Piguet, Richard Mille, Patek Philippe, Rolex, and Vacheron Constantin. These brands are volatile and need a deeper understanding of market trends and price movements.

For example, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore can fluctuate up to 20% within a year. The Richard Mille models can either appreciate by 30% or depreciate quickly. Patek Philippe's Nautilus Ref. 5711 saw a dramatic 50% price surge since its discontinuation in 2021. Beginners should start with watches under $10K to limit financial risk. Also, to gain market experience without high stakes. Affordable watches have a larger buyer base, reducing the risk of significant losses.

Why is Local Lead Generation Better Than Watch Trading?

Local lead generation is better than watch trading for several reasons. First, it requires a lower initial investment compared to watch trading. Setting up a website and investing in basic SEO and marketing tools is cheaper. In watch trading, you need at least $1500 to purchase your inventory. This amount can go higher if you target high-end luxury watches. Second, local lead generation offers a more predictable and consistent income stream. Once established, your site can attract leads for local businesses. This provides ongoing revenue ranging from $500-$3000 per site per month. Watch trading income depends on market conditions and the ability to source watches at good prices.

conclusion-lead-gen-maps

Moreover, scaling a local lead generation business is more straightforward. You can create multiple websites targeting different local niches or regions. This is with relatively minimal additional effort and cost. The availability of high-demand watches limits watch trading's scalability. It mostly depends on the capital you're willing to input for more inventory. The risk involved in local lead generation is lower. The risk of investing in watches that may not appreciate or might even depreciate is huge. Also, it needs in-depth knowledge of the watch market, brands, models, and trends. This can take a long time to acquire and master than local lead generation strategies.

Both local lead generation and watch trading have their merits. However, local lead generation provides a more stable, scalable, and lower-risk business opportunity. So if you are looking for a less volatile and time-consuming business, try local lead generation
