Didn’t end up purchasing the course due to the £2500 upfront fee. The initial material is not well presented but it does contain some good tips and tricks. I set up 6 shops, I was cautious with adding products etc… all were shut down within 2 weeks for breaching Etsy policy – I tried to appeal it (had to wait up to 2 weeks whilst I couldn’t satisfy orders) and in the end they closed them down. My shops were not contentious, just honest goods for example a wedding shop, child toys and accessories, political merchandise (all custom no IP infringement etc) and for no reason or at least no reason they give they shut them down. Not only does this cost a fortune, but you spend hours (and I mean hours) researching products, writing descriptions and uploading these only to be callously shut down or temporarily banned for no apparent reason. If you are generating huge money through it or it is your sole income you are totally f****d. The harsh reality is that Etsy is not a viable place to generate solid and consistent returns, it is a place where you can sell some of your homemade jewellery or upcycled furniture, at best you’ll turn a few K a year. It is not a place for multiple shops, rapid and big growth and consistent and reliable profits – this unfortunately, is what Etsy Kings does not tell you.
I also had a call with one of their front ‘seller’ guys, he was clearly not informed. I was discussing setting up multiple sex toy stores, he thought this was a good idea and said they are profitable. Upon research, I learnt that Etsy announced a year before that they would stop any sort of sex toy (or crude material) being sold through their platform as of July 2024 – my conversation was in July 2024 – so this guy didn’t have a clue about this massive change, my thoughts – avoid this and use the free content!
