Farida Bayoumi Review (5 Pitfalls of Amazon FBA)

January 25, 2023

Farida Bayoumi’s FBA Academy 2.0 is an FBA course which teaches online sellers how to launch their own FBA business. It was established in 2021 and currently has over 1300 students across 50 countries. The course has also helped in launching over 500 different products on Amazon.

The curriculum is focused on private labelling and teaches all the necessary steps in starting an FBA business, which includes using Category Search to find the perfect niche, Trademarking, using Amazon Brand Registry, Listing Optimization, and streamlining your processes once you finally launch your product. According to Farida, the estimated timeframe to do all this is around six months to a year.

Fulfillment by Amazon could indeed let you gain financial freedom and has the potential to serve as your source of passive income, but in the end, you'll spend a lot of time researching about your product, finding the perfect supplier, building your brand, and so much more.

Local lead generation, on the other hand, does not require you to maintain your business as much as Amazon FBA, and provides a more stable source of passive income.

Local Lead Generation is the process of ranking a website on google that promotes a service. Once that site is ranked, it requires little to no maintenance. Not only does this give you a more significant income stream, it also provides more security and stability.

Amazon FBA: New Way vs. Old Way

New way:

  • Finding a product that is used everyday, such as household products.
  • Sourcing the products from Alibaba, not for a cheap price, but for the highest possible quality. An important part of this is checking reviews to ensure you’re getting a quality product.
  • Differentiating your product through branding, packaging, and marketing.
  • Maximizing or minimizing a variable of the product (ex. The BIGGEST coffee mug or the QUIETEST hair dryer)
  • Identifying your customer, down to the specifics.
  • Sending your product to celebrities or influencers.

Old way:

  • Finding a product that has very low competition and high demand.
  • Sourcing that product for a very low price, usually from Alibaba.
  • Sending that product to an Amazon warehouse with your branding on it.
  • This old way is very straightforward and does not use any marketing strategies or initiatives. The only marketing being done is through Amazon PPC.

Farida’s way is centered around doing the traditional Amazon FBA, but without PPC since it can be very costly. Instead, she gives emphasis on building your brand the through marketing and advertising campaigns.

5 Pitfalls of Selling on Amazon

Selling on Amazon isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. If you’re wondering why FBA Coaches seem to paint Amazon FBA in such a positive light, it’s mainly because of two reasons:

  • It’s their job to convince you to take their course because how else are they going to make money?
  • They’ve experienced some form of success and genuinely want you to have the same - but for a price.

Sadly, reality sets in pretty quickly once you start your Amazon business. However, keep in mind that this list is not meant to scare you, drive you away, or give Amazon a bad reputation. The goal of this study is to simply inform you of the possible threats that could take place once you begin selling on Amazon.

Here are some common pitfalls you can expect once you start your FBA business.

1. Product Hijacking

It’s no surprise that this comes first on our list, simply because product hijacking exists both on Amazon and in the real world. Due to the number of products out there, it’s common for sellers to copy other sellers and create counterfeits.

Product Hijackers normally appear on your Buy Box or on the “Suggested Accounts” section, which could redirect visitors and customers to other sellers and prevent you from making a sale or profit.

2. Negative Feedback from Competing Sellers

Competition on Amazon is intense. If you let up, even for just a short period of time, you will be eaten by the intense competition. An example of how competing sellers try to gain an advantage against you is by purchasing your product and posting negative reviews and comments.

On top of that, some sellers even hire third-party companies and individuals that leave comments for them in order to avoid detection. These individuals often leave reviews that look legitimate by specifically indicating a product’s flaws or defect, and targets even the most honest sellers on Amazon.

This will not only prevent you from generating a positive cash flow, but can also largely affect your account’s performance and puts you at risk to be suspended or worse, indefinitely banned.

3. Damaged Products Coming From Amazon Warehouses

Damaged products being shipped out from Amazon warehouses isn’t new. There have been reports of products being broken due to natural disasters, human error, or even mishandling. An example of this is an incident back in December 2021 when an Amazon warehouse in Illinois collapsed after a tornado.

Once a product has been damaged, Amazon handles customer complaints and refunds, but it is usually the seller that takes the biggest hit. Sellers are subject to negative reviews and feedback, which can ultimately lead to indefinite suspensions and bans.

As frustrating as it may seem, this kind of issue is often out of our control.

4. Bad Customer Service

Amazon’s customer service isn’t always reliable, and that trend probably won’t change anytime soon. According to Amazon sellers, it takes weeks to resolve a single issue, and it usually involves lots of phone calls and long email threads and exchanges.

However, Amazon takes care of customer complaints for you, which can eliminate a lot of stress and anxiety.

The question is: are you willing to trust that Amazon will do a good job of handling the complaint on your behalf?

5. Competing Against Amazon Itself

Yes, you read that right - Amazon has its own line of brands that sellers often have to compete with. In addition, not all of Amazon’s brands contain the word “Amazon”, which can be difficult when examining and analyzing your competition.

On top of that, keep in mind that Amazon has full control over what happens on their platform, which means they can greatly influence what buyers see and can manipulate algorithms in their favor.

This can be very dangerous for both first-time and experienced Amazon FBA sellers.

Who is Farida Bayoumi?

Farida Bayoumi is a 25 year old online entrepreneur who graduated from York University with a degree in Film and Media Studies. Like most successful FBA sellers, she started out as a regular employee, working several 9 to 5 jobs.

Eventually, she was able to build an E-commerce business with warehouses in Dubai, Egypt, and Canada. By the age of 22, she quit her 9 to 5 job to focus on her own business.

Farida has also found success in selling sunglasses. She has a company called Own The Trend which has a huge following.

Farida Bayoumi Net Worth

Farida Bayoumi makes around $20K per month. This is after building her business from around $3K per month.

Yet, she has not shared her expenses, so her exact net worth is not known. However, we do know that a typical profit margin for Amazon FBA is around 30% to 40%. So, we can assume she is taking home $6000 to $8000 if that $20K is solely from Amazon FBA sales.

In addition, her course costs $997 and has 1300 students. On top of that, she also has multiple businesses and other streams of income. So, we can assume her net worth might be around $1.5 million.

Here are some key differences between the two:

Conclusion: Is Farida Bayoumi legit? Is Amazon FBA still worth it?

Farida Bayoumi promises to help you establish your own successful Amazon business, and has a plethora of positive reviews to back it up. One of the most common reviews about Farida is her ability to connect and communicate with other fellow women.

Strangely, she doesn’t have any negative reviews as of this writing. However, the lack of negative reviews can be attributed to the program being established in 2021, making it relatively new compared to other FBA courses.

Based on my review, Farida Bayoumi seems to be genuinely inclined to help other people start their own FBA business and is compassionate towards those who seek to attain financial freedom, as long as they put in the work.

However, starting an FBA business on Amazon usually entails having to deal with a variety of factors that you are just out of your control, such as product and niche over-saturation, fees that keep increasing over time, intense competition against other sellers, and those that were discussed earlier in this article.

Local Lead Generation, on the other hand, is an online business that eliminates these uncontrollable issues and provides a stable source of passive income. With Local Lead Gen, all you have to do is create a website that ranks in accordance to Google’s algorithm, allow local businesses to generate leads through your website, and keep it active for local businesses to use.

If you’re planning to start a business that provides continuous and significant passive income, Local Lead Generation may be the answer you are looking for.
